Emma-Jane Cook is a poet, textile artist, and English teacher based in Ōtepoti Dunedin. Originally from the UK, she is a single mother of three children and two dogs, and like many women before her, she creates art and writes poetry in the spaces between domestic obligations. Cook holds a first-class Master of Arts in English and a double Bachelor’s degree in Art History and English from the University of Auckland. She has been crafting since the age of five, and her poetry has appeared in numerous New Zealand journals. In 2021, her poem Frank was selected as a close reading text for the Level 3 NCEA English examination, reaching thousands of students nationwide. She now embraces a guerrilla publishing style through her Instagram persona, @emma.cook.dunedin, where she shares stitched verse, poetic fragments, and glimpses into her creative process.
